Collectible Baseball Cards
Collecting baseball cards has gone from a fun kids pastime to a fully fledged investment that adults collect and trade in daily. Some of the older or rare cards like the Honus Wagner card can fetch a very large amount of money from the right buyer or person who needs that card to round out their collection.
It used to be, you would by gum and in the pack you also got baseball cards. That was until people starting realizing that the baseball cards were becoming a commodity and actually had value. Today, it’s rare to find gum in a pack of baseball cards anymore.
Most people don’t know that the first baseball cards created in the late 1800s actually game with tobacco products instead of gum. The front of the card had the player info and the back of card had information about the tobacco product. If you can find one of those cards today, it would be like hitting the lottery.
Before you go and spend a lot of money on baseballs cards, if you’re doing it as an investment, you need to know which ones are more valuable. Your older cards from the 50s and 60s typically sale for more and of course the more well known players command premium prices. If you’re not collecting as an investment, then pick the cards you need to fill your collection instead of trying to go by the value of the card.
There are many different types of baseball card collectors. From the extremely serious as an investment to those who collect just as a fun past time. I really doesn’t matter what your reasons are for collecting as long as you enjoy what you’re doing.
If you’re collecting for value, having your cards authenticated by a reputable dealer will increase the value a great deal. Also, if you have autographed original cards, these can really bring in a lot in the right type of auction.
We’ve created this site as a place where new and older baseball card collectors can find cards from auctions and vendors and get them at the best price possible.
Thanks for visiting and good luck!
